The nonprofit world thrives on stories.<\/p>\n Video streaming\u00a0apps are designed to stream quick and simple moments. <\/strong>Followers who view and read your live stream will help share your story across social media.<\/p>\n The Good:<\/strong><\/p>\n 1 – There’s a very small learning curve!<\/p>\n 2 – It’s FREE.<\/p>\n 3 – You are truly\u00a0“in the moment”.<\/p>\n 4 – Because Twitter owns Periscope, you can\u00a0quickly find and follow people on Twitter making it much easier to engage your existing audience.<\/p>\n 5\u00a0 –\u00a0You can share live broadcasts automatically with your Twitter\/Periscope following. The app sends a notification to your followers that you\u2019re streaming live.<\/p>\n 6\u00a0– You can also use the lock button to live stream a video for only certain people to watch.<\/p>\n 7\u00a0– Your followers can view your video up to 24-hours after the broadcast. You can also save the video to your camera roll and share it or watch it later.<\/p>\n And, recently announced: Periscope now shoots in landscape mode<\/a>!<\/p>\n The risks:<\/strong><\/p>\n As with most live broadcasts, there are inherent risks with live streaming.<\/p>\n Most nonprofits will want to have tight control and management over any content they produce.<\/p>\n Here are some real examples from\u00a0Sarah Sebastian at Qgiv<\/a>,\u00a0showing how your nonprofit can maximize Periscope by telling a story:<\/p>\n If the connectivity is there, your nonprofit can live stream important \u201cmission moments\u201d that might otherwise go unshared.
