Learning when your social media audience is tuning in and, therefore, the best time to post, is mandatory for any successful blogger.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"So_When_is_the_Best_Time_to_Post_to_Your_Blog\"><\/span><strong>So, When is the Best Time to Post to Your Blog?<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>While there is no steadfast rule on the best or worst time to post content, there has been quite a bit of research done with the aim of forming <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.dlvr.it\/2013\/12\/when-is-the-optimum-time-to-post-your-lunch-special-on-twitter-how-q-can-help-infographic\/\">useful guidelines for social media<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Zeroing in on just blog posting, in Kissmetrics third post on <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.kissmetrics.com\/science-of-social-timing-3\/\">The Science of Social Timing<\/a>, they focused on how b. Here are seven\u00a0of the key takeaways from the post:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.dlvr.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/the-science-of-social-timing-part-3_-timing-and-blogging.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-7552\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.dlvr.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/the-science-of-social-timing-part-3_-timing-and-blogging.jpg\" alt=\"Science of social timing\" width=\"330\" height=\"174\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dlvrit.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/the-science-of-social-timing-part-3_-timing-and-blogging.jpg 330w, https:\/\/dlvrit.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/the-science-of-social-timing-part-3_-timing-and-blogging-300x158.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 330px) 100vw, 330px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Blog Posting Facts and Stats<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The highest percentage of users read blogs in the morning.<\/li>\n<li>A higher percentage of men read blogs in the evening and at night.<\/li>\n<li>The average blog gets the most traffic on Monday.<\/li>\n<li>The average blog gets the most traffic around 11 a.m. Eastern Time.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>The average blog gets the most comments on Saturday.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li>The average blog gets the most inbound links on Monday and Thursday.<\/li>\n<li>The average blog gets the most inbound links at 7 a.m. Eastern Time.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Any surprises? I&#8217;ve highlighted mine &#8211; hum, Saturday?<\/p>\n<p>Also from the Kissmetrics post, I found their analysis\u00a0of the pros and cons of the best time to post is interesting. TrackMaven raised my thinking to the next level. They analyzed 4,618 blogs and their combined total of 1,167,426 posts for trends in posting schedule and corresponding engagement. Here are two key takeaways from their <a href=\"http:\/\/trackmaven.com\/blog\/2014\/05\/best-time-publish-a-blog-post\/\">analysis on the best times to publish a blog post<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Takeaway #1: Weekends Are Ripe For Blog Post Engagement<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"line-height: 15.6pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; font-family: 'HelveticaNeueW01-45Ligh','serif'; color: #333333;\">Track Maven\u2019s analysis showed that there is a major separation between when you publish your blog and when readers have time to digest them. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 15.6pt;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.dlvr.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/Post-frequency-vs-social-share.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-7538\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.dlvr.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/Post-frequency-vs-social-share.png\" alt=\"Post frequency vs average social shares by day of week\" width=\"760\" height=\"424\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dlvrit.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Post-frequency-vs-social-share.png 1024w, https:\/\/dlvrit.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Post-frequency-vs-social-share-300x167.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 760px) 100vw, 760px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>While weekend published posts only account for 13.1% of posts by frequency, they received 32.6% of all social shares for the data set. Saturdays are especially appealing for social media\u00a0marketers to experiment with publishing blog posts. While only 6.3% of posts are published on Saturdays, they received 18% of total social shares for the week.<\/p>\n<p>This result\u00a0is consistent with Kissmetrics findings that the average blog\u00a0usually gets the most comments on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.dlvr.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/Comments-by-day.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-7540\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.dlvr.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/Comments-by-day.png\" alt=\"Average blog gets most comments on Saturday\" width=\"760\" height=\"285\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dlvrit.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Comments-by-day.png 1024w, https:\/\/dlvrit.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Comments-by-day-300x112.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 760px) 100vw, 760px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Takeaway #2: Leisure Hours Are Prime For Engagement<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Track Maven\u2019s analysis also finds that, while most blogs posts are published during work hours, social media shares were highest for posts published between 9 p.m. and midnight EST. There is even a secondary peak in engagement between 4-6 a.m. EST, marking the start of the European business day.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.dlvr.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/Social-Shares-Time-Of-Day.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-7541\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.dlvr.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/Social-Shares-Time-Of-Day.png\" alt=\"Social shares based on best time of day\" width=\"760\" height=\"457\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dlvrit.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Social-Shares-Time-Of-Day.png 1024w, https:\/\/dlvrit.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Social-Shares-Time-Of-Day-300x180.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 760px) 100vw, 760px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>So while content marketing and distribution might be your day job, keep in mind that your audience is also likely to have a day job of their own.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>In determining the best time to post on social media, make sure to consider your customers, your product or service, and the types of messages you are posting.
