That might be why 48 percent of men and 39 percent of women are choosing not to make any resolutions at all.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/dlvrit.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/How-long-did-your-resolution-last.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-8093\" src=\"https:\/\/dlvrit.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/How-long-did-your-resolution-last-1024x830.png\" alt=\"Length of New Years resolutions.\" width=\"760\" height=\"616\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dlvrit.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/How-long-did-your-resolution-last.png 1024w, https:\/\/dlvrit.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/How-long-did-your-resolution-last-300x243.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 760px) 100vw, 760px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a thought:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Instead of trying to make one huge change this year, why not make small changes part of your everyday routine?\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dlvrit.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Happy-New-Year-small-resolutions.png\"><br \/>\n<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I&#8217;m game. Here I go&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Day 25. I\u2019m proud to report that I am doing \u201cfairly\u201d well with my three\u00a0&#8220;small and easy to implement&#8221; New Year&#8217;s <del>resolutions <\/del><strong>changes.\u00a0<\/strong>None of which have anything to do with going to the gym or reading a book. I already know I need to do those things. My first thoughts of the New Year were surprisingly simple. Maybe you can relate. They certainly can\u2019t hurt.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Resolution #1: Stop looking at your\u00a0cellphone first thing in the morning. <\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>My new motto<\/strong>:\u00a0If you absolutely won&#8217;t <em>leave it lay<\/em>, then can you at least let it <em>lie<\/em>?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/dlvrit.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/iphone-ecard.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-8091 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/dlvrit.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/iphone-ecard.png\" alt=\"iPhone, I'd be lost without you.\" width=\"420\" height=\"294\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dlvrit.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/iphone-ecard.png 420w, https:\/\/dlvrit.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/iphone-ecard-300x210.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 420px) 100vw, 420px\" \/><\/a><strong>Results<\/strong>: First few days I went through withdrawals. Been getting easier ever since. My solution &#8211; Keep eyes closed for five minutes after the alarm and mentally walk through the details of the\u00a0upcoming day. Added benefit: Hoping it will help reduce memory loss (you can always hope).<\/p>\n<p><strong>*** Qualification<\/strong>: Quickly glancing to see if you received a text from your kid&#8217;s carpool or your mother does NOT count. Could even make an allowance if you see\u00a0a text from your boss.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Resolution #2:\u00a0No potato chips allowed in the house.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>My new motto<\/strong>: If you bring it, I may or may not eat it.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/dlvrit.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/potato-chip-taste.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-8095 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/dlvrit.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/potato-chip-taste-300x181.jpg\" alt=\"Potato chips from a bag\" width=\"300\" height=\"181\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dlvrit.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/potato-chip-taste-300x181.jpg 300w, https:\/\/dlvrit.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/potato-chip-taste.jpg 612w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><strong>Results<\/strong>: Waistline = Priceless. Seriously, I have a love-hate relationship with potato chips. I&#8217;ve never been able to pass one up especially when onion dip is present. \u00a0Challenge: Super Bowl Sunday!<\/p>\n<p><strong>***Qualification<\/strong>: French fries from In-N-Out Burger and white truffle potato chips from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cateandcobakeshop.com\/cafe-menu\/\">Cate &amp; Co<\/a>, do NOT count.<\/p>\n<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/dlvrit.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/french-fries.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-8099 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/dlvrit.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/french-fries.jpg\" alt=\"French fries from In-N-Out Burger\" width=\"625\" height=\"417\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dlvrit.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/french-fries.jpg 625w, https:\/\/dlvrit.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/french-fries-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 625px) 100vw, 625px\" \/><\/a><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>Resolution #3: Make coffee at home before starting your day.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>My new motto<\/strong>:\u00a0Wake up and smell the latte.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dlvrit.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Morning-coffee.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-8101\" src=\"https:\/\/dlvrit.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Morning-coffee-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"Non-fate-latte\" width=\"760\" height=\"508\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dlvrit.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Morning-coffee-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/dlvrit.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Morning-coffee.jpg 786w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 760px) 100vw, 760px\" \/><\/a>Results<\/strong>: You may miss your local barista and her ingenious\u00a0froth artwork but nothing will ever say thank you like your wallet.\u00a0We received a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Capresso-202-04-frothPRO\/dp\/B003LXY2HA\">Capresso frothPRO<\/a> for Christmas. I can&#8217;t tell you what a coffee-saver it has been.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>(1) Non-fat latte @ $4.50 per day for 25 days (and counting) = $112.50 SAVINGS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">For all the financial wizards\u00a0out there, I know I should reduce my savings by\u00a0the cost of the coffee beans and milk, but I&#8217;m not counting the second latte consumed later in the day. I&#8217;ll call that a wash.<\/p>\n<p><strong>***Qualification<\/strong>:\u00a0If you are meeting friends at a coffee shop, etiquette does require you to purchase a cup of Joe (make it a double).<\/p>\n<p>So far, so good with my New Year&#8217;s changes. Need some help coming up with a few of your own?<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Most people are rather over-ambitious with their resolutions and find it difficult to last longer than a week or so. So, why not try doing one small, positive act every day?<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a list of SMALL changes that can make a BIG\u00a0difference:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Donate some of your old clothes to charity<\/li>\n<li>Step away from your smartphone (similar to Resolution #1 above)<\/li>\n<li>Cycle to work<\/li>\n<li>Pack a healthy lunch<\/li>\n<li>Try a new hairstyle<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>\u00a0Top New Year&#8217;s Resolution Tip<\/h3>\n<blockquote><p><strong>At the end of each day, look at the small positive things you have achieved &#8211; this will motivate you to keep making constructive changes through 2015!<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>From <a href=\"http:\/\/www.entrepreneur.com\/article\/241116\">entrepreneur.com<\/a>, take a look at the infographic below, which features more nuggets from the feelunique.com study, and pay special attention to the tips on how to make your New Year\u2019s promises last.
