Before you start doing anything else, you want your Instagram profile to look great. Nobody is going to follow an empty profile.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If you want other people to follow you, the first thing you should do is upload about 15 \u2013 20 <strong>really good\u00a0photos<\/strong>. Led by MIT doctoral candidate Aditya Khosla, they\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/popularity.csail.mit.edu\/\">wrote an algorithm<\/a> to help predict how popular photos will be on social media\u2014<i>before<\/i> you even post them.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>All you have to do to test it yourself is upload your own photo and press the &#8220;Run&#8221; button to see its &#8220;popularity API.&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I&#8217;ve been testing\u00a0a few of my photos to determine their popularity score. My &#8220;Hey Ladies&#8221; image scored a 4.013. Apparently, that means I can expect to receive, roughly, 2^4.013 = 16.15 views of my image per day. You\u2019ll be building your Instagram following while sharing interesting photos with people who want to see them!<\/li>\n<li><strong>Leverage hashtags:<\/strong> One of the\u00a0quickest ways to build a following on Instagram is to monitor and engage with different <a title=\"Three Pro Tips on using #Hashtags to Increase Social Engagement (Infographic)\" href=\"https:\/\/dlvrit.com\/blog\/2014\/08\/three-pro-tips-on-using-hastags-to-increase-social-engagement-infographic\/\">hashtags<\/a>. Use 1-2\u00a0<em>relevant<\/em> hashtags when posting photos on Instagram.
